How to find Club Sail

Club Sail is located about 40 km north of the Sydney international airport, about a 45 to 55 minutes drive.

If you are coming from overseas or out of state, you will fly into the Sydney Airport. You can either take a shuttle bus marked, "Northern Beaches" (Aus$25 to $35 per person one way) or take a taxi (about Aus$85), or rent a car for the 40 km drive to Pittwater.

For out of town visitors, we recommend a night's stay at the Newport Arms Hotel. It is almost next door to our offices at the Newport Anchorage Marina on the corner of Beaconsfield Street and Kalinya Street. We'll make reservations for you if you decide to stay there.

The Newport Arms Hotel was a popular destination for Sydney vacationers in the late 19th Century and was in operation by 1887. It has been rebuilt three times and is now a modern and popular hotel overlooking Pittwater. Any of the Northern Beaches Shuttle Buses can take you directly to the hotel.

Driving from the Airport is something of a challenge, and you will need a good navigator and map. You have four key turns to make.

  1. Just as you leave the parking area you need to navigate a confusing turn onto the road that leads around to the right, following Airport Drive which borders the airport. There is a temptation to follow the ramp that leads to the left - don't do it. Stay to the right, go under the overpass, and you'll be on the Airport Drive.
  2. Follow along Airport Drive until you see signs for the left turn onto the Southern Cross Drive and Sydney. This is a four lane divided highway (Route 1) that will lead you right through Sydney and into the Harbour Tunnel to the North Shore.

3. After you exit the tunnel and are on a broad and open 5 lane highway, ease to the left and watch for the Falcon Street (Route 10) exit. Take this exit and turn right at the end of the off ramp towards Mosman. Falcon Street will eventually turn into Pittwater Road (Route 14). Pittwater Road becomes Barrenjoey Road at Mona Vale (still Route 14). It is fairly easy once you take the exit ramp to Falcon Street and make the turn right towards Mosman. As long as you keep following that road and the flow of traffic you'll wind up on Barrenjoey Road.

4. Your last turn is the one off Barrenjoey into Beaconsfield Street.

Barrenjoey road climbs up some coastal hills just past Mona Vale and then begins a descent into the Newport Valley. Right after the road starts down hill there is a traffic light. This is Beaconsfield Street.

Turn left at the light and just before this dead ends into Kalinya St, you will see a yellow housing complex called Newport Anchorage.

You will find us at the Newport Anchorage Marina, Office 10, Marina level, 79-81 Beaconsfield St, Newport. That's right next to the Newport Arms Hotel on the corner of Beaconsfield and Kalinya St.
